Name of Shop: The main Shopping Malls
There are several very good malls around Christchurch to shop at. Northlands (Main North Rd), The Palms (Marshlands Rd), Westfields (Riccarton Rd) and Eastgate (Linwood Ave) are the main ones with Barrington (Barrington St) and South City (Colombo St) Malls smaller versions. The Palms is probably the best having several good food options (food court inside & restaurant/bars outside) and Reading movie complex with the biggest, most comfortable seats anywhere. Next is Westfield then Northlands - both having movie options. If you are not sure how to get to any of these Malls you can jump onto the Orbiter Bus which drives a loop linking all of these Malls. The cost is only $2.50 for up to 2 hours of travel (so you can jump on, jump off)
What To Buy: The malls have everything from books to clothes to sporting goods so it's down to what you want at the time.

Name of Shop: Cashel Street Mall
Cashel Street is one of Christchurchs main shopping areas being a vehicle free zone (except delivery ones). Cashel St has everything from Ballantynes department store to brand name shops such as Nike, Sony and EB Software.
What To Buy: There are options on music, jewellery and travel plus The Bog Irish Bar down near the Bridge of Rememberance. Around the corner from The Bog is Christchurch's strip with several bars and cafes, many open until the wee hours. A couple of Arcades sit off Cashel st and each has its own collection of small stores and food options.
