Plan to spend a lot of time in Gettysburg

Gettysburg National Military Park is a huge place, and you can easily spend a whole day here. The park preserves the site of the most famous battle in the Civil War, and surrounds the town. Unlike many battlefields, you'll be fighting huge crowds, school tours, tour buses, etc. The monuments line the streets of the park, and there are plenty of impressive ones.

There's a designated auto tour that's two-three hours long, and it will take that long to get through it. Note there are several streets and sites NOT on the auto tour that you can wander to, as well as a few trails through the park.

Great overview of what must be an profoundly emotional place to visit. Its on my list of civil war sites to tour. Thanks for visiting my DP page. Wish I spent more time there too. :)
