The Siege

Perhaps not as famous as some of the Civil War sites in the nation (Gettysburg, Antietam), Vicksburg was a crucial battle during the war that finally came to a conclusion within a few days of Gettysburg. The siege of this well-fortified city lasted 46 days in 1863. This opened the Mississippi River to the north and cut the confederacy in half. Today, Vicksburg is home to a large park, preserving the history of the war. Please visit some of my tips and travelogues to catch a glimpse of what you can see at this park.
