Most of the National Parks that I have seen over the years have been parks of great natural beauty. I wouldn't quite classify the Everglades that way. Here, you can see an endangered Ecosystem that doesn't exist elsewhere in the world - a land where salt water and fresh water meet and create a river of grass.

It's painful to have visited in the late June heat, but even in that timeframe, I was able to see an abundance of wildlife. I dropped several pounds of water weight, but thanks to a generous supply of OFF, I was able to keep the mosquitos and biting flys at bay, and get a view of a land that may not be around for many more generations.

I didn't try canoeing through the Everglades, but I did poke my head through a launch to see what it looked like - there were some really beautiful areas I could see exploring if I had the time!
