"Saving Missouri" Pea Ridge National Military Park by PinkFloydActuary

Having just seen Wilsons Creek, the first major battle for Missouri, our next stop was to see Pea Ridge, where the Confederate forces tried to attack the Union from the north, hoping then to swing into Missouri and capture St. Louis.

A few missteps, followed by destruction of the command structure of the Confederate forces led to a Union victory after a few days of battle. Missouri remained in the Union for the rest of the war. Please see some of my tips to get the highlights of what you will see at Pea Ridge.

Thank you for your pages. It helps to understand what I might be able to expect on a visit there.
