Chinatown: Will fill you up for the entire day!
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Chinatown Cafe

This cafe is pretty budget looking (as with most placese in Moonta St), however the service is exceptionally fast and always friendly. The menu caters for Vegetarians and Vegans well and everything is priced below $10AU. Being right next the central markets means everything is always very fresh.
Several reviewer claim this is the best laksa in town.

Favorite Dish: The Laksa is by far the best dish; although everything is good value for money.

Huge serves, with vegies, noodles and your choice of Chicken, Seafood or Vego. The blend of spices they use is what makes the flavour of this laksa taste so great.

    Café Allegria: Really Italian
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Café Allegria

Located 5km from the city centre, in the heart of Adelaide's Italian community Cafe Allegria serves some of the best Italian food in Adelaide.

Maps of Italy and plenty of cycling stuff such as bike frames adorn the walls (the owners son used to be pro cyclist I think).

Delicious homemade gnochi, truelly excellent Pizza, all the pasta dishes are tasty, as is the scallopini.

The waiting staff seem very friendly with local Italian and cycling regulars.

Favorite Dish: Grana Pizza and the homemade Gnochi are both favourites of mine. The Grana is simply proscutto, parmersan, rocket and tomato and is a perfect combination of flavours.

My partner almost always orders the Scallopini Allegria and says it's to die for.

Always order the Tiramisu if its on the menu.

Mondo Food Wine Coffee: Somewhere different on The Parade
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]

  • Restaurant Name: Mondo Food Wine Coffee

Review written by my partner, Stephen for our webiste:

Cafe Mondo on the Norwood Parade (on the northern side towards the Portrush road end) and were pleasantly surprised to be shown to a table, given our menus (not just pick one up off of the counter) presented with glasses of cold water (and not crappy Adelaide tap water) and then left to ponder the excellent choices before a waiter again came to the table and took our order.

Favorite Dish: The food was excellent and well priced with most mains around the $14 mark. Michelle had a penne pasta with roast pumpkin and prawns in a brandy and honey sauce and I had a grilled chicken fillet with a green pepper sauce (and veggies). The food was excellent and the portions ample but not over filling. For desert we decided on tiramisu, which was certainly pleasant eating but not up to our usual expectations of this dish. The wine list was plentiful starting at $22 a bottle with many wines available by the glass.

Vego and Lovin' it: Fantastic Vegetarian Food (even for non vegos)
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Restaurant Name: Vego and lovin' it

Vego and lovin' it is an Adelaide institution, and has fed many a hungry uni student.

It is located in a tiny upstairs room on Rundle Street and owned by a local artist who's mosaic framed sketches of Adelaide adorn the walls along with old record sleeves and magazine covers. Mismatched 50's - 70's decor and crockery add to the charm of this fantastic cafe.

Get in for either an early or late lunch (not open evenings or weekends) as the place is packed between 1230 and 1400

Favorite Dish: A must is the soup which I chunky and a meal in itself. It comes served with sourdough rye bread topped with tomatoe-garlic butter.

All the burgers are fantastic. The Mexican burger comes with corn chips and salsa on the side. The AbFab burger cant be missed either with avacado and sweet chilli sauce, neither can the mediteranian burger (with olive tapanade). Let's face it all the burgers are delicious.

If you don't feel like a big meal the salads are delish (but big) and come with homous on top.

Finish of your meal with the chocolate (vegan) ice cream. It's the creamiest and chocolatiest you'll taste.

An ordering suggestion if you aren't on your own iss ask for a soup and burger to share. (they'll come on 2 seperate plates/ bowls) but you'll only be charged the price of the a whole serve. If you're on your own or cant agree you can also ask for half serves of everything but it's more expensive than half the price of the whole serve.

i'm from Adelaide and i always drink the tap water unless pure tap is close by.I've never found a problem with it where i live (the hills) the only time it tastes strange is tap water in public bathrooms.
