TRIM CASTLE

Trim is a small town located in County Meath, on the banks of the river Boyne, about 45km (28 miles) North-West of Dublin.

Trim Castle is the largest medieval castle and one of the most important Norman military constructions in Ireland.

Have you ever seen Braveheart?

Trim Castle was founded by Hugh de Lacy in 1173. Rory O'Connor destroyed it a year later. The castle you see today was the replacement built around 1200 AD.
You have probably already seen Trim Castle in the Oscar winning film Braveheart. The scenes where the Scots storm York Castle - they are in fact storming Trim Castle.
