New York State of Mind

Lady Liberty

Lady Liberty from the Staten Island Ferry
Living in New York is like a dream come true to me. The first time I arrived in New York City (unfortunately, not greeted by the statue of Liberty), I was overwhelmed by the whole thing. There are just so many kinds of people, from different backgrounds, lives, religions and races, and I love it. At the beginning, I was a little skeptic about living in New York, because I didn't really know whether the people were rude or not and whether I could survive the hussle and bussle. Believe it or not, the people here are friendly and very straight forward and I survive living in NYC. I have been living here for about 5 years and love every second of it. It's an amazing city and I don't think I would ever forget about New York, even if I have to leave it and relocate to another place .. I'd still consider New York city as my hometown.
The Empire State Building

New York, the Empire State

I'm very fortunate to live in Manhattan, where it all happens. Every single day when I go to work, I pass the Madison Square Park with the view overlooking the Empire State Building. I feel so lucky to experience this and I take a full advantage of living here to take a lot of pictures of city landmarks such as this building and the central park, when weather permits.
But sometimes, I'd like to experience the other boroughs of New York City, such as Brooklyn and Queens, to experience the different sides of the city. There are some more communities with different backgournds of culture in which they have a lot of ethnic restaurants and supermarkets, when I feel like trying different kinds of foods from around the world. At times, whenever I would like to eat authentic Indonesian food, I go to Queens, where there are some Indonesian small restaurants, or to the Bronx to get my favorite fresh mozarella cheese from an Italian food store. There are so many varieties in New York that living there, it's like traveling all over the world in itself.

Pros:"No need to drive .. just walk and enjoy what New York has to offer: restaurants, gourmet stores, cultures, broadway, and the great all year round Central Park."
Cons:"In the summer time, sometimes the smell of garbage is too much."
In A Nutshell:"New York, New York ... it is really a wonderful town!!!"
