"Natural Wonder" of the World...the Grand Canyon

I stated on my homepage that everyone who is able, should hike this unbelievable natural wonder. If you can't physically hike it, you should at least visit it and gaze at the awesome beauty of it. Even though it is in the middle of nowhere, it is the most visited park in the U.S. Very few people even go below the rim, do yourself a favor and at least take a short hike down, the views change constantly and dramatically! This picture was taken on our first hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, September 2002.

Conquering The Grand Canyon- Second Time!

This was taken right before we start an amazing hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It was very windy this morning and made for some interesting hiking challenges on the narrow and steep trail. The wind was so strong that at times we were hugging the inside of the trail/rocks to maintain our footing! It later subsided......much to our relief! This was my second hike to the bottom and the first for my oldest brother, he was awed by the expanse and beauty of this natural wonder, like most people are! My last hike 09/2002. I will hike this again, Lord willing!

A HUGE yucca plant on the Tonto Plateau

This picture was taken on the Tonto Plateau, about half way down to Phantom Ranch. I would call it a Yucca, but some call it the Hundred Year plant. On my second hike to the bottom, we saw many more than the first hike. My brother was surprised at how green the inner canyon was with many cactus, scrub brush and flowering vegetation of varying types.
