Rome, The Eternal City aka. The City Of Fountains!

A Classic Vespa, The Beloved Motorini Of Italy!

They say it takes a lifetime to see all of Rome!

My wife and I spent 2 weeks in Italy, 6 nights in Rome. We felt as if we came, we saw, we conquered the city of Rome! Here you see a Vespa, the beloved motorini of Italy! One sees them everywhere but, the older ones that have been around seem to have the most character! When visiting small shops, you see many nik/naks devoted to the Vespa. We found it interesting that everyone rides these, even business men and women in nice suits! I would love to go back some day to see the rest, it is said, "It takes a lifetime to see all of Rome".
Michelangelo's "Pieta"

St. Peter's Basilica and environs.

Regardless of your religious beliefs, a visit to St. Peter's is a must, if for only the unbelievable artwork! Here is Michelangelo's "Pieta", they say it is the only sculpture he ever signed! When it was first put on display, they gave great praise to another artist of the time, he was so upset that he immediately carved his initials into it and made sure he was given his rightful credit. When they praised him greatly he felt ashamed because he knew early on that his talent was God given. He never signed another sculpture! Over the years, marble becomes more translucent so it appears as if Jesus and Mary has actual skin. It is now behind bullet-proof glass due to an attack by a crazed man with a hammer many years ago!
"Can I Take One Of These Stools Home?"

Tour the Colloseum, Roman Forum and Palantine Hill

We purchased a tour of the above stated landmarks. I'm quite sure it was an extra 10 euro above the price of the entry fee for the Colloseum alone. Plus, you get to enter in the reserved ticket line and save much time, one of the few tours we purchased while in Italy (well worth it). The guides are obviously very knowledgable and are welcome to questions. You can find these tours while milling outside the Colloseum, they will approach you. I thought it was odd, while on our tour of the Palantine Hill we rested and sat on pieces of marble columns that were antiquities. They had to be very, very old and we were using them as stools! Check this pic out!
