Vegas in July

MGM Grand

We flew into Vegas from the east coast, as a starting ground for our trip to the southwest. We stayed at the MGM Grand, which was a wonderful hotel, especially with children, but I must say, the customer service was seriously lacking. We were not actually in our rooms until 1:30 am, pacific time. A lot of it was due to a lack of hotel transportation and check in service. I booked the room 5 months in advanced and ended up with a view of a wall. There are many things to do at MGM, and the river pool is the best I've ever seen. But, my husband went across the street to the Tropicana to gamble because the tables were cheaper.

Touring Vegas

We started early the next morning to tour Vegas as we only had one day. We used the monorail system to get around which was pretty effective for the price. We visited the Stratosphere first and rode a few of the absolutely terrifying rides that dangle you over 1,000 ft. from the ground, off the edge of the tower. I was not overly impressed with the Stratosphere. The temperatures were 117 degrees while we were there so it was difficult to do a lot of touring. We ate lunch at the Hilton's mock Star Trek restaurant, the food was pretty good for a tourist trap and the kids enjoyed the people dressed up as characters. This is a neat hotel for kids. They also have some excellent Star Trek rides/shows, although, they are very expensive.

The Blue Man Group

All of my family would agree that the Blue Man show was the highlight of our time in Las Vegas. These guys are phenomenal. This is one of the best shows I have ever seen. It is very high energy and out of this world. These guys are Mimes, painted blue who use music and special effects to WOW the audience. It is very family friendly, the music is fabulous and I would definetly recommend paying the extra to sit up close.

Pros:"Exciting and entertaining even for young families."
Cons:"Too hot in the summer, customer service lacking"
In A Nutshell:"We would definetly go back to Vegas, but maybe when its cooler weather."
