FLYING HIGH The double-headed eagle, central to the Hapsburg Dynasty’s coat of arms, can be seen everywhere in Vienna. This example on the roof of the city’s cathedral, Stephansdom, reminds natives and visitors that the reach of the Hapsburgs was wider than the eagle’s wingspan and as far-reaching as the bird could fly.
In the closing days of the Second World War fire from street fighting leapt to the cathedral’s rooftop. After repairs were made, including ceramic tiles donated by Viennese citizens in 1950, Stephansdom was reopened.
The exact meaning of A.E.I.O.U. died with Frederick III. His multiple interpretations were intended to give high-flying importance to himself and his family.

I missed the Vienna Boy's Choir when they visited our church...but your tips are very nice -- I think you are underrated and your ranking should be higher! I like the Greece in Vienna tip...Norman :) P.S. That pig is cute!
excellent informations and great photography, you really picked out some of the best places to go for a tourist ! b.t.w. in 1970 they almost tried to demolish the 2 O.Wagner-pavilions of Karlsplatz, but lots of people protested !
