"Vanuatu" a Vanuatu Travel Page by Gury

Me and my friend visit Vanuatu for 10 days when we were backpacking in Australia. It was my favorite part of the whole trip. In spite of being quet poor country itīs people were so inspirational, so beautiful and welcoming and always smiling.

Though the country attract mostly honnymoonies and people who like living in private hotels on or on a luxury private island itīs not hard to do the country backpacking style.

When we arrived we hadnīt planned anything, but some with some help from locals we got this nice cheap motel-style accomidation and got some information about what we could do.
After 10 days there (there of 3 days were it rained heavily so everything was closed!) we had driven around the island, see two tribal villages, got on horseback up to the little mountain there, got on a romantic boat and see some faboulous view, sliding down some natural World Heritage slide in Cascade falls, eaten some strange food.... but now when I think back (Iīm writing this three years since) it is Vanuatus beautiful smiles and sincere happiness that stands out. It is a feeling which is quet hard to find in this times of war and hatred.

Iīve never met so warmhearted people since.

This girlīs name was Alison. She was our company for a whole night when we got a chance to try some Vanuatu-food on some little island just a little outsite of Efate. She was so cute and funny, five year old and loved chewing-gum. If someone sees her, give her a warm hug from me!
