Aaaah - Mumbai... | Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus |
...such a bustling city - always movement and always people. Home of more than 12 Million "Mumbaikers"; hub of Bollywood and movie-stars; city of rikshaws and yellow-black taxis, people hanging out of trains, and smiling faces in slum-dwellings. You will find overfattened stray-dogs, starving people, potholes the size of a volcanic crater, cows sitting on the middle of roads, pet goats roped to lampposts on the sidewalk and a colorful mix of ethnic and western dresses left, right and center. One is amazed at the close proximity of slums and luxury, interspersed with Hindu temples, Christian churches, and Muslim mosques. There seems to be at least one festival or religious celebration each week, and if you are lucky, you'll witness a miracle (we "witnessed" 2 in our last 2 week stay).
Oh yeah - and best of all: Mumbai is the birth-place of Ashley. :-)
Enough chatter ... time to take you down the narrow bylanes of the city, where our adventures in Mumbai begin!! |

Next time you pass the Bollywood studios would you mind putting in a word for me? If anyone can play a moustache twirling British villain, it's me! I have my own solatopi at the ready... |
