A tiny prologue:
As far back as I can remember, I have always been inclined towards an escape! An escape from rituals that were completely ridiculous ... trends that were passé ... lifestyles that were mundane and rules that were so rigid.
And that is when I started to travel ... to see if things were very different at the other end of the spectrum.
I know now that I want to LIVE my life and not just to EXIST .. To take on life as it comes.
An escape to tranquility and my inner self all at once.
Someday, I plan to take Eva on a little tour through Goa. Not really the standard touristic view of this ex-colonialized state, but rather a more personalized see-it-through-my-experiences stay.
And yeah! Maybe we'd think of opening up Our Own Little Toddy Shack at the same time right on the beaches of Goa :)

| | So if you're planning a little trip, and you ask ... 'Why Goa?', I'd counter this with a capital 'WHY NOT???'
Lemme see if I can tempt you to get here through some interesting facts:
75 miles of coast line with over 50 miles of swaying palms and white-golden sandy beaches, once a mecca of hippie culture & the woodstock flower-power generation, its beaches still attract hoardes of tourists every year out to get their share of the sun. There are miles and miles of rice paddies and lush spice plantations towards the interiors, with quaint little villages, churches and colonial styled houses, big verandahs and all from the Portuguese era.
A gastronomical delight, you can have fresh sea food; [lobsters, tiger prawns, crabs] all hand in glove with ethnic mouth watering dishes like pork vindaloo and sorpatel. Wash this down with the local brew and life is all that it was meant to be.
And nopes, I wouldn't wanna leave you veggie chaps out with 'If you're trying to be nice to animals, WHY ARE YOU EATING THEIR FOOD?', but rather 'This is still India, the land where vegetarianism originated'. Goa may not be known particularly for its vegetarian dishes. The vegetables are usually cooked without any spices or masalas. However, I'm sure theres a bit of something in here for everyone!

Some useful links, info tidbits and a bit of history:
* The demonym used to describe the people of Goa is "Goan", not "Goanese"
* Goa was a Portuguese colony for 451 years. Portuguese names are common among the Christians. A few Goans have Portuguese ancestry, myself included.
* Goans comprise Hindu, Roman Catholic and a small Muslim population.
