Talk about stumbling on something.....we stumbled on the Atchafalaya basin quite by accident. For those living in Louisiana, this might sound absurd -how can one not know of a river basin and marsh area that is 150 miles long and 20 miles wide? It is possible if one does not take the time to carefully review literature about the region. For a state like Louisiana with its incredible diversity of terrain, if one doesn't make an effort to familiaize themselves with the geography -they will miss many incredible sights to see.
