Abseiling down the canyons

Canyoning is new in Jordan, but the canyons are gorgeous. "Jumping off the cliff into a pool of warm water" describes it very well!

The hot springs are all along the edge of the Rift Valley, most of them are in the unfrequented valleys, running down to the Dead Sea.

This is a marvellous activity for sporting people, in good physical condition! It can involve several days, or just one, and it brings you into contact with the local Bedouin as well; They are the only people anywhere near these canyons.

Equipment: If you are doing this without a guide you will need both wet suits and abseiling gear.

Pierre Voignier, a French mountain guide, UIAGM qualified, brings groups here each year, and is also based in Wadi Rum when he is not in the canyons.
