Dioskuriya: Good Georgian cooking Georgian Cuisine Review

This restaurant looks and feels like a big old country house. Timber lined walls and rustic furniture give it a comfortable ambience. We ate upstairs under the sloping ceiling. On a wet and windy night it felt cosy and welcoming.

Favorite Dish: Georgian food is probably the best cuisine of all the region. Interesting flavours, lots of good vegetable dishes, delicious breads and good grills are all to be expected.

Lobio was a gorgeous dish of kidney beans cooked in a crock, full of flavour and just the thing on a cold night.

The Khachi Puri (cheese-stuffed bread-cum-pie) was excellent.

Pork chop was a better choice than the mutton which, although it did have lots of flavour, must have come from a pretty old sheep!

Restaurants around Revolution Square: Outdoor eating

You might expect the restaurants around Revolution Square to be tourist traps, with pretty mediocre food and inflated prices. I can't speak for the ones in the Okhotny Ryad Mall - though they always seemed crowded whenever we walked past, but those at the other end of the Square, across from the Hotel Metropol, are good places for a light lunch or a simple evening meal (pizza, pasta, grilled fish and meat, salads, etc), or just a beer and a snack perhaps at any time your feet need a rest. With big canvas awnings over outdoor terraces, you can watch the activity in the square as you eat when the weather is warm; inside they are attractive and unpretentious. The service is pleasant, with English menus (maybe other languages too) and prices very reasonable.

Favorite Dish: Really delicious pizzas hit the spot after a morning walking all around the nearby streets of Kitai Gorod.

Taras Bulba: Cooking just like Babushka's Ukranian Cuisine Review

Whilst the decor maybe a little kitch in its self-concious folksiness, the food in this chain of Ukrainian restaurants is very good. Hearty, home-style cooking with soups, salads, well-cooked main dishes and more stuffings for varenki (dumplings -sweet and savoury) than you can imagine.
Servings are large, so don't get too carried away when ordering -you could end up with more food on the table than you bargained for!

Favorite Dish: Stuffed cabbage leaves just like Grandmother used to make, and sour cherry varenki to finish. Delicious.

Guilly's: The best steaks in Moscow American Cuisine Review

An intimate cellar restaurant, serving great steaks, ribs, burgers, etc - not cheap by any standard but the food is excellent and the service spot-on. The choice of wines is good.
Guilly's certainly lives up to its reputation as "The best steakhouse in Moscow"

Favorite Dish: Beautiful steaks - sirloin, fillet, rib-eye (my favourite) and a whopping T-bone, cooked perfectly and served with your choice of sauces.
Satisfyingly sticky and spicy fall-off the-bone ribs had Mr L smiling.
