Favorite thing: There are so many things about Dubrovnik to fill the eye and leave lasting impressions. The unity and harmony of the city's buildings is so lovely, and there are so many charming details to enhance them. Favorite thing: For all the beauty of Dubrovnik, perhaps its greatest charm lies in the way it is still a living, breathing city. Tourists may flood the main streets that are lined with wonderful examples of Renaissance and Baroque buildings but Dubrovnik is no sterile museum piece. You only have to walk a few yards away from the main thoroughfare to find yourself in streets of houses where people live and work, children and kittens play and old ladies sit and gossip under lines of washing stretched overhead. Walk the walls of Dubrovnik and you will find yourself looking right into houses and down on gardens and down at the harbour there are people swimming from the rocky outcrop under the city's walls.
