Visitors without their own transport can easily make the trip to Akaroa - there are two companies offering a daily shuttle service.
TheAkaroa Shuttle leaves from the Visitors Centre on Catheral Square in Christchurch, pickups may be possible from your acccommodation in the city.
The French Connection Shuttle offers a similar service.
Fares for both are $30 return, $20 one-way.
The buses leaves Christchurch at around 8.30 am for the 1 1/2 hour journey, with some commentary, and a coupe of stops along the way - including the almost obligatory phot stop at the Hilltop viewpoint.
