Various restaurants: Lunchtime in Petra

If, as you should have, you've had an early start in Petra, come lunchtime you'll be hungry. There are not a lot of options available but you should be able to find something to suit you, a shady spot to sit and a cold drink to refresh you before you start off again. The most expensive option is the restaurant run by the Movenpick Hotel at the Basin - not having eaten there, I can't give an opinion. The Nabatean Tent offers a buffet that, whilst not anything to write home about, we found quite satisfactory. There are a couple of others places that I am sure would be equally satisfactory or you could always pick up something in town and bring your own picnic, but that's about it.
When you've climbed all those stairs (300, 800 - whatever - it's a long climb)the teahouse in the cave at The Monastery is a good place to stop in the shade for a drink and a great view of the facade as a reward for your effort..
