Try to avoid summer The only good time to visit Gatlinburg is in the winter when the least amount of tourists are there. The remainder of the year it is filled with tourists, to many to even move through the town. Only then is it possible to visit without being hasseled or being forced to view rednecks in all the unique glory which they obtain. |
Gateway to a Great National Park The Smokies are truly amazing and are worth fighting through Gatlinburg traffic and people just to see the "real mountains". You will have a great chance to see Black Bears, Deer, and Elk on the N.C. side. |
Myrtle Beach of the Mountains Gatlinburg is a redneck heaven and nothing more. If you are going to the Smokies try to avoid it as much as possible. |

eshine Wed Jun 25, 2008 21:40 UTC Now you can watch the Parade and any Parkway events Live from downtown Gatlinburg web camera | Karraokeey Tue Jul 10, 2007 07:42 UTC Gatlinburg is like a Myrtle Beach except MB has prettier water than that ugly brown stream through G. They ought to freshen it up by the aquarium and rake the crud out of it. G is expensive and I'll visit the woods more next time. |
