Malapascua - Home of Thresher Sharks

Daytrip in Malapascua

FYI - this is not a our actual picture
Planned daytrip from Cebu City

Because we were not able to catch our early flight in Cebu Pacific going Cebu City from Manila, we have moved our flight in the evening, so we're forced to adjust our our itinerary in Malapascua, and fortunately, it had a nice outcome:

From Manila, we took the the evening flight in Cebu City, then from the Airpoirt, we took a taxi to Mandaue City. Then from Mandaue City, we stayed in a lovers motel ( Moonlight Motel near Ceres Bus station, P200 for 3 hours, additional P50 for extra person) hehe, we just have to take a nap for a few hours to wait for the 1AM first trip of Ceres Bus going to Malapascua (its a regular non airconditioned bus). It usually takes 4 hours to reach Maya but since its late, we arrived at exactly 4AM in Barangay Maya.

Then at 4am, boat from Divelink picked us up in Maya port to bring us straight to Monad Shoal, there's no time to go back to Malapascua since their normal schedule for thresher sharks is 6AM.

We made it through the Monad shoal, it was our first dive and we encountered 3 thresher sharks! They can't believe it, they said that we were lucky because some divers stayed for days and have to keep on coming back just to see one.

Then we went to Malapascua Island, had a breakfast at Ging Ging's restaurant. Our next dive site is Gato Island, its a 40 minute boat ride from Malapascua Island. This was our second dive, we were able to see 2 white tip sharks, one active and one sleeping in a cave, ooohhh!!!. Our third dive is still on Gato Island, highlights for that dive is a red fish frog, no more sharks.

Then we went back to Malapascua Island to wash and pack so that we can still catch the last trip going back to Cebu City, this is the ordinary bus last trip which is 5PM, airconditioned bus last trip is 1PM. Finally, we arrived in Cebu City at around 9PM
