people | the main part of the town |
generally, many places tend to be overloaded with many tourists or generally people! but with Amarante you will find that it is a small town with a minimal population of local residents. During the winter or summer times you will often find tourists there, but many are just immigrants that miss the town so much that the re-visitation is necessary, i for one am one of them. Many residents are very kind to help wonderers and the community is very friendly and contributional. Many of them you will find out and about on wednesdays and saturdays as these are the markets timings for when residences come to purchase live stock for organic farming or just plain essentials. |
food and drink very wide range of food, but mainly experience a lot of fish eaters as portugal is well known for that. tipical marisco, cabidela, caldo verde and others are amoung these habitants prefered dishes, oh and dont forget to pop into sr marchados, a local char grilled chicken place mmmmmmmmm a delicacy!!! as for wine, you can buy it in the outskirts of amrante like olo, fridao and other villages where sign are held up. nothing quite like the real thing out of the barrel. Same goes for honey!! |
