St. George's Basilica (Svaty Jiri) - Prague
St. George's Basilica (Svaty Jiri) St George's Basilica Review

This basilica rises in the hearth of the castle, very close to St. Vitus cathedral, and was built in 920. Its original structure is Romanesque, but the façade was remade in 1680 in Baroque style.
It has a long and weird history, the same as the whole city of Prague, and during the centuries was transformed into barracks and later into a paintings gallery.
Inside the church you can find St. Ludmilla's grave.

Tancici dum (The dancing house) - Prague
Tancici dum (The dancing house) Dancing House Review

The "Dancing house" (also called "Ginger and Fred") is a very controversial modern building, on the river quai after the National Theatre in direction od Podoly and Visehrad (Rasinovo Nabrezi). It was built 10 years ago, following a project of the american architect Frank Gehry. Its vertical curves make a big contrast with the old classical buildings around.
It hosts mainly offices and a bar on the upper terrace.

Address: Tancici dum, Rasinovo nabrezi, Praha 2

Directions: Walk from National Theatre along river to south, or along Resslova from Karlovo Namesti.
By tram, take number 17 or 21

Thje TV tower annd the climbing children - Prague

Thje TV tower annd the climbing children

Television tower

You can see it from almost every corner of the city, it's 216 metres high and weighs 2.000 tons!
The TV tower is located in Zizkov and was built in 1992, practically the last communist structure built in the city.
For this reason and also because the tall tower is modern and matches poorely with the rest of the urban panborama, people from Prague are said not to love it that much.
Anyway it's impressive, and it hosts a bar and a restaurant almost at the middle of it, from where you can get a great view over the city and the nearby region.
When the weather is very clear you can see around for about 100 Km, practically speakin, half Bohemia!
Around the tower there is asmal jewish cemetery.
A weird note: if you go close to the towe and look at it, you can see the sculptures of children who climb the tower....a bit weird!

Address: Zizkov

Directions: Metro: Jiriho z Podebrad
Tram lines: 11 / 5 / 9 / 26 / 55 / 58

Rott's House - Prague
Rott's House

This beautiful building is in the hearth of the Old Town, behind the Old Town Square.
It belonged to a family of traders, the Rotts, and was built at the end of the XIX century. The whole façade is covered by frescoes designed by Mikolas Ales.
It is also surrounded by other nice buildings that make this corner of Prague one of the most beautiful of the Old Town

Under the last arch of the Charles Bridge, on Mala Strana side, flows the Certovka (Devil's Brook), an arm of the Vltava that creates the lovely island of Kampa with its park where you cantake nice walk, with its baroque buildings and the water mills.
Just few metres away the big crowd that walks on the Charles Bridge, enjoy this little corner of peace
