Balcony over the Amalfi coast If you're on the Amalfi Coast, absolutely don't miss a visit to Ravello!
It is a a beautiful town built on a steep hill, few Ks away from the sea but with a magnificent view on it and on the coast, that's 350 metres down |

| | A long history Ravello has always been part of the "Grand Tour", and heaps of artists have lived there for a while or permanently. The painter William Turner for example lived in Ravello and made some drawings of it and the Amalfi Coast, that are now at the Tate Gallery in London. The German composer Wagner also lived here and wrote some of his works in Ravello, getting inspired by its beauty. The "Parsifal" was written in Ravello, for example. Other artists who loved Ravello (and lived there) were Greta Garbo, Orson Welles, Andr? Gide (who took place in Ravello his work "L' immoraliste"),Virginia Woolf, Gore Vidal, Edvard Grieg. |
Arab Style Ravello's unique character is given by the Arab style of its buildings and monuments, heritage of the old local families that used to deal with the East | | | Cloister of Villa Cimbrone |
