Phuket Hotel Tips by mexxgal

It's our 2nd stay at a banyan tree resort and after having a good time at 2 banyan tree resorts.... we are tempted to go to the others too.

We spent 2 nites at the beautifully landscaped resort. Banyan Tree Phuket is part of the Laguna Phuket resort area where there are 5 luxury resorts including Sheraton Grande Laguna, Dusit Laguna, Laguna Beach Resort, Allamanda Phuket. There is some interesting history about the resort where you can read about in the coffee table books available in your room. Apparently, the area now occupied by the resorts used to be a tin mining waste land. If you look at the resort areas now, you can never guess that!
There is a free shuttle and a resort boat that can take you to the other 4 resorts in the Laguna area and you can make use of the facilities for a fee.

The good service and attention to details are characteristics I have come to expect of the Banyan tree resorts, and I was not disappointed. The resort is well equipped with a pool, spa, tennis courts, library, gym, golf course, DVD/VCD library and a few restaurants.

I was told by my taxi driver that when Thaksin(Thailand's Prime Minister) or other dignitaries visit Phuket, they will either stay at Banyan Tree or Amanpuri and these are the best resorts in Phuket.

WE booked ourselves into a jacuzzi villa... though it's the most basic of all the villas available at the resort, it is by no means basic. The villa is large with a garden area where there is an private outdoor jacuzzi and deck chairs. There is a sunken bath and separate shower rooms, twin sinks (his & her sinks). In the lounge area, there is also a DVD/VCD player, TV, reading material.

Very luxurious and relaxing...

This is a reasonable 4* resort on Naithon Beach. The resort deco and landscaping are both quite nice but the location is simply too too far away from Patong Beach and Phuket Town.

If you plan to just relax by the beach(small deserted beach) or your room or just at the spa... this is probably an ok choice.... but if you plan to experience other parts of Phuket... I will not recommend this place.

We stayed in a sea view villa(more like a room than villa) which overlooks the sea. We find that it's better than the beachfront villas. The whole resort is small with only 40+ rooms and it's the only resort on Naithon beach... so at nite, it can be quite deserted.
