Various: Innsbrook - A Nice Area to Stay When Visiting

This is a general "where-to-stay" tip because I've seen a lot of forum posts asking what areas are good to stay in various places. Innsbrook is about 10 miles west of downtown Richmond in a newer-developed area. There are several hotels in the Hilton Garden Inn, AmeriSuites, Homewood Suites, Comfort Suites, and Hampton Inn. Within a half-mile or so are the Residence Inn, Marriott Courtyard, Studio Plus, and a Holiday Inn Express.

There is a good concentration of restaurants very nearby on the NW corner of Cox Road and Broad Street in the Innsbrook Shoppes. You have your choice from pub food and a huge beer selection at the Capital Ale House, great breakfasts and sandwiches at Boychicks Deli, Chinese at China Pearl, Indian at Curry House, fast but healthy at Pita Pit, steak at Hondo's, and Mexican at, where else, Mexico.

Unique Qualities: On the south side of Broad Street at Cox Road there are other eating choices in the Parkside Marketplace (SE corner) in Moe's Southwestern Grill, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Starbuck's, Leonardo's Pizza, and a Haagen Daas ice cream shop. The Colonnades West Shopping Center is on the SW corner and has a Great Taste Chinese buffet.

Need supplies/sundries or just want to hang out and shop? There is a 24-hour CVS pharmacy at the SW corner of Cox and Broad. To the west along Broad Street is a Target and a Kroger supermarket. Further down Broad Street is the Short Pump Town Center with various chain shops and restaurants. There is also the Regal Short Pump multiplex playing the latest Hollywood releases.

Directions: Take I-64 to Exit 178, U.S. 250 East towards Richmond. Turn left at Cox Road, about 1/4-mile after exiting the interstate.

Jefferson Hotel: THE Place to Stay in Richmond The Jefferson Hotel Review

I have not stayed at the hotel since I live here but we do visit it on occassion for functions, to view the Christmas decorations, and to frequent the restaurants. The Sunday champagne brunch is fabulous!

The hotel is a historic building and has been a part of the downtown skyline since 1895. It fell into disrepair at one point and served as a transient hotel. However it was rescued and now is one of only 23 hotels to have a Mobile Five Star and AAA Five Diamond rating. In addition, their main restaurant, Lemaire, boasts a AAA Five Diamond rating as well.

Unique Qualities: All the service and amenities one can expect in a class establishment. If you have the money, you can't go wrong staying here. It's right in the middle of the city and is even worth a visit just to check out the spectacular lobby and common areas (see photo on my Richmond page).
