Having grown up in southern California, my family would occassionally travel down to check out the wonderful zoo, the museums in Balboa Park, or Sea World. Since then I've had the occassion to go there on business and pleasure and have found that there is much more to the city that has arguably the most perfect year-round weather in California. San Diego is made up of several neighborhoods and the city is currenlty undertaking a long-term project to revitalize those areas and to maintain the neighborhood identies. As part of this revitalization there are some great new shops, restaurants, and hang outs. Most tourists will spend time in the Gaslamp District downtown, Seaport Village, or Old Town. But if you want a feel of what it's like to be a resident, check out the shops and eateries of Hillcrest, North Park, Coronado, Point Loma, and University Heights, among others. You can see a map of San Diego neighborhoods at the City of San Diego website. My tips here will initially be based on places I've been to and like in the Hillcrest, North Park, and University Heights areas. Unfortunately I don't have many photos because the last time I went I found out that my rechargeable camera battery had died. : ( |

Dabs Thu Apr 24, 2008 03:04 UTC Squid sandwich at Point Loma was yummy! Heading out to Old Town to rustle up some Mexican food :-) | travelfrosch Mon Jan 21, 2008 03:45 UTC Congrats to the Chargers for an amazing game! I must say, though, this win by the Patriots impressed me more than any other: Brady either having a bad game or being shut down (depending on which team you root for), and they still found a way to win! |
