I have to say that I liked Joshua Tree better than Sequoia or Yosemite National Parks. More intimate, more compact, and more my style. The park is not so monsterously large that you can't get most things done in a shorter amount of time. When you want to do something serious as Yosemite, it will usually involve many hours of hiking or driving. Not the case here.Very soon after entering the park you are confronted with the beauty and personality of the place. |
| | Who the park is best for There are three groups of people that I think Joshua Tree is best suited for:
1. Rockclimbers - There are plenty of places to climb here, though most of them are not very high. I'd say most of the places to climb are around 60 to 70 feet. That is just a guess though.
2. Kids - The formations of the rocks and their unique nature give kids plenty of places to explore and run or crawl around.
3. Everyone Else - The park is suited for people of all types. It's somewhat romantic, rustic nature is great for young couples who want to camp. But even for the less adventurous amongst us, there are plenty of easily accesible sites to check out.
Seeing as how Joshua Tree is not too far outside of Los Angeles, it's a worthwhile trip to take to get away from the insanity of the L.A. scene. |
