Addis Ababa Museum Museum Review

With a little help from the Swiss, this museum now showcases a very large amount of old photographs of Addis Ababa's late 19th century history. I admit, I am a photography nut, but this visual history of this particular period in time is superb and really shouldn't be missed. Beyond that the other items on display are more than worth checking out...like all the money that Ethiopia has ever printed. It's conveniently located with a pretty nice gift shop too.

The National Museum has several levels that show even more than the famous 3.5 million year old skeletal remains of Lucy. I was most impressed, being the art buff that I am, with the art collection on the second floor that showcased numerous styles, periods, and artists from Ethiopia. The third level has numerous artifacts that are generally labeled in, if I can recall correctly since I didn't write it down, 19 different displays. They just plainly state things like "agricultural tools" or "religious items" or something basic like that. Beyond that which is displayed in the building, there are several sculptures on display outside of the building to the right (as you enter). No doubt if you are in town you would plan on seeing it anyways...so what do you need this review for? Hmmmmm?? (Feel free to rate me anyways though :-P)
