The road to Damascus. | Knock, knock...who's there? |
A city of 5 million people, you can easily tell that you are in a massive city. There is always traffic and something going on around you and a mass of people on the streets. Even though it lacks the smaller city charms of Aleppo and Hama, there are definitely enough reasons to visit Damascus. |
The history of this city goes back so many years. The Prophet Mohammed was said to have passed Damascus as he was traveling and refused to enter the city because he only wanted to enter paradise once in his life - when he died. Damascus is also the longest consistently inhabited city in the world. |
Many different roots for religion. "The Lord told him, 'Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.'" Acts 9:11 |

| Pros: | "Interesting sights. A lot of fellow tourists around from all over." | | Cons: | "Traffic. Hectic atmosphere. More tourist oriented in the Old City in parts." | | In A Nutshell: | "To me the big city is always worth checking out." |
