In general

Ruse (or Rousse) is a large economic and educational centre in the Northeastern part of Bulgaria. In 19th century it became The Door to Western Europe because it is located on Danube river. After that Ruse developed rapidly and a lot of buildings in neo-classical style, baroque and etc. emerged.
On the way between Sofia and Bucharest, I recommend you to get off for one night and to visit one of the most beautiful bulgarian towns! It is important as a tourist object! you'll like it! The splendid houses, the magnificent central square, the inspirational Danube river- everything will take your breath out!

Many lovely places

There's many lovely places in Ruse! One doesn't need to walk too much, since the most popular sites are located in the central area.
On the picture you see a small square which was my favourite one when I was a child. There is a monument of the Bulgarian soldiers, a fountain and an old high-school.
