River Walk

Day 1

I have to say that the pictures do not compare to seeing the walk with the naked eye because it's absolutely beautiful here. The plants and smells here of the foliage are awesome and the birds are always chirping even at night. You really have to appreciate nature to get the most out of it. For me it was like walking in wonderland and I'm not much of a talker but definitely a writer.

Our first day me my brother and his employees had to laugh at ourselves. We unpacked our 9 suite cases only to find out that the Holiday Inn that we were at wasn't the Holiday Inn that we booked our rooms at. Some how we over looked that there were 3 Holiday Inns within a few blocks of each other. But we are here now!

During the day we walked around town & saw a few homeless people sitting along the steps of buildings and our group got into a discussion, short ending here because there are many reasons people become homeless. To judge why without knowing is so very typical isnt' it. Maybe someday we can stop to ask why. Maybe then our opinions will change and our hearts will move us to help. God help us all.

Later we enjoyed dinner along the Alamo walk at the Mexican restaurant Acenar. I have included my comments on t he restaurant tips page.
Musicians and Art

Day 2

Woke up late and walked up the River walk. Along the walk there are creeping vines among beautiful natural stone buildings depicting mosaic art made of glazed miniature tiles all surrounded by towering trees & low lying foliage. I was told that it's like a little Venus here and I don't know because I've never been but I can tell you that there are a lot of talented musicians here in many of the restaurants along the river that will play for a tip. It's a very nice place to bring a special someone for a romantic time.

Lots of birds were feeding off of whatever they could get. I saw a bird tearing into a sugar packet that it ate most of and I had to wonder if it felt extra energized flying that day with all that sugar pumping through it's blood. Later I ate at Zuni Grill and shared tortilla chips with the birds. This one kid walked up to eat with his grandparents & saw me feeding the birds & he joined in.

He asked how I grinded the chips so small and before he know it he had became my very own young grasshopper, my corn-grinding student. Kids, they have a good heart and see what the average adult forgets, the simple but yet rewarding free things in life.
Tour Boat Ride

Day 3 and 4

Day 3

This evening I took a tour of the San Antonio River. You can take a tour boat ride for $6.00 or the river boat taxi ride for $3.50. The taxi has a flag on the back of the boat and it does exactly what is implies, it takes you to your destination. But of course you will not get to hear the history on the taxi like the tour ride boat ride offers. You can get a day pass to the taxi for $10.00., otherwise you pay the $3.50 each time you get on.

Day 4

Today I went on a grand tour of the Alamo. Later went to the Market Square. The Market Square is very colorful with good food on every corner. A bakery catches your eye and you can put on 10 lbs just looking and 10 more from eating. Musicians are on the walk playing flutes and guitars and it's definitely a festive atmosphere. If you’re a kid at heart like I am you'll love the market where you can shop and strut your very own Enchilada. I am a kid at heart and Texas this week is my playground.
