    • At the minute its all over the news, Delta and RIvers state have rebels that are targeting westerners in order to get the oil companies to put more effort into sorting out the local environment and caring more for the local communities. So look at www.fco.gov.uk and travel advice before you go.

    Just before I arrived in 2004, there were 50 people killed in gunbattles and a local mobile policeman was killed the day I arrived whilst negotiating with local milita.

    Again, this wasn't in the town itself, but be aware that on the outskirts there can be problems.
