My Trips to England

Bear Friend in Bath
I have visited London many times usually as short 4-5 day stops while on route to somewhere else. I have taken 2 trips to England to really see this wonderful country. The first was in June of 2001. I went with 2 girlfriends, we rented a car and rambled about the country for 16 days. The second time was on a Cosmos Tour in September which included Wales, Scotland and Ireland. We were in England for 8 days on that tour. It is a fabulous country to visit and the weather in September was just as good as June.

England is Historic

England is a very historic country. We visited early sites such as Stonehenge, many beautiful cathedrals, castles, palaces, homes of famous authors such as Wordsworth and homes of famous musicians. It really brings history to life to visit these places.

Birding in England

If you have read my name and my home page, you realize that I am into nature and love birdwatching. England is a very good place to watch birds. In fact there were birdwatchers in England before the U.S. It is very good here because there are many reserves you can visit set aside to protect the birds. The photo shows a hide at one reserve. You go inside and are hidden so you can see the birds without disturbing or scaring them. But there are also good birding areas out in the countryside and along the roads and also in parks. In fact, London parks have a lot of birds. I saw my first English birds in London. You can visit the historic sights but have your binoculars and watch birds also. I saw some excellent birds while visiting gardens of palaces, castles and other places.

Pros:"It's easy to vacation in England because the language isn't different."
Cons:"It's very hard to drive in England because you keep forgetting which side of the road to drive on."
In A Nutshell:"It's a wonderful place to visit."
