The tanneries were a must see and I always wished to behold and experience at first hand. It is not as I had expected it to be, the men and boys work hard under the scorching sun and in stenching smell. Their bodies are drenched in dyed mirky water and their feet are cracked and swollen with heavy work.
I will appreciate my leather goods which this country produces with great talent and I wish that all travellers like me appreciate their hard work and think twice before buying and bartering prices. For western standards the price of these genuine goods is pretty fair...let's be fair ourselves as well. |
