With the construction of the Aswan High Dam, Philae was moved to its present site. To reach it, you have to arrange with one of the many boatmen to be taken to the island. We arranged for him to wait for us as it doesn't take all day to see the various buildings. |
| | The temple consists of a colonnade leading to the temple itself. It is a late period temple. Many of the incised carvings have been cut out by later kings, but from a distance th shapes seem to be complete and do not detract from the temple. |
| | The island also has the Kiosk of Trajan and other minor temples.
When you are hot and thirsty and need of refrshment there is a good cafeteria to take the weight of your legs, and enjoy a cold drink. |
