A visit to Gettysburg National Historical Park will change you spiritually and emotionally. We aren't Civil War buffs, and I cannot recite to you all the pertinent battle facts. Everywhere you roam here, you will find plaques or monuments that offer a glimpse of the people and events that shaped the Battle of Gettysburg. I will share what I learn...

In 1864 the Gettysburg Battlefield Memorial Association established the cemetary in dedication to the Union soldiers that died here.

A great spot to begin planning a trip to Gettysburg is at the National Park Service site. Here you can get basic battle information, links to maps of the battlefields and more. Another site that can benefit you, especially for campsites, is at StateParks.com.
