Thank goodness for roadsigns! Ever hear that before?

If it wasn't for the signs we saw on I-80, we never would have happened on this slice of Amish life. We stopped for dinner, but couldn't help looking at the beautiful shops.

To get to Shipshewana, we exited I-80 at the Sturgis, MI exit, made a right and headed out into the country. Keep driving. It is a way from the exit, and you may begin to feel lost, but you're not. Just keep going. There isn't much out this way, you really cannot miss the shops and Blue Gate Restaurant.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Great food, great shopping.
  • Cons:Nowhere near New Jersey (con for me)
  • In a nutshell:Great stop on our trip out to Chicago.

If you come out this way again and want to try another place, Essenhaus in Middlebury is another good place to try! And there's a huge flea market/antique auction during the middle of the week :-)

Karen keeps asking me to take her back to Shkipshewana - one of our favorite spots in Indiana.
