Italy was definately the most tourist laden country that we have ever been to; and in our quest to see the authentic Italy, we discovered this beautiful region called Mugello. This is Northern Tuscany, north of Florence, and nothing like the "Napa valley-esque" Tuscany you are used to. Borgo San Lorenzo just happens to be one of the towns in this region, but it is the mountainous landscape that you really need to see.
- Pros:No tourist, Beautiful hikes
- Cons:Need a car to enjoy
- In a nutshell:The Lesser Known Tuscany

There are miles of well marked hiking paths in this area, but I would recommend having a trail map. We had a brochure... more travel advice
