"Desert Stars" Joshua Tree National Park by flynboxes

Joshua Tree National Park Travel Guide: 351 reviews and 831 photos

I've been here twice in my life. Once for a camping trip in 86' when I was in boarding school and the second time was for a quick day trip while visiting friends in Palm Desert. It's an easy day trip from the Palm Spring area or LA/San Diego if you get up early and ditch the traffic. It's a big park and is a great place to hike or climb.

Being a State park it has very good access and camping facilities. Being the desert it is hot during the summer days and cold at night. In the winter it may even see snow so check the weather before you head out

If you are interested in California's mining history this is one place to vist although the mines are now sealed shut with steel plates and fences so they are not accessable to the public nor are they probably very safe at this time.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Vast California outback
  • Cons:Summer heat
  • In a nutshell:One of the best places to see stars in California
