A break from the city

Bassam or Grand Bassam is a great place to spend the weekend as many expats living in Abidjan do along with the wealthier locals..come saturday morning they jump in their cars and fill the parking lots of the numerous little resorts that line the beach here. We arrived on a Sunday where we saw this first hand...the place we stayed at was packed but as it got close to sunset they all jumped back in their cars and headed home to Abidjan (driving at night is not advised as the traffic accident rate picks up) Most of the hotels/resorts have a place to eat in them or you can just walk the city which is easy and enjoyable in the warm tropical air. Most of the nice hotels are on Blvd Treich-Laplene which runs along the beach. It itersects at Blvd Gouermeur Angoulvant ( there is a neat piza joint on the left hand corner here. Along Treich-Laplene you will see several of the old colonial buildings..some occupied and others just left to rot/decay.

Funny you should comment on my Sana'a page. I spent 8 hours on the throne there - the worst in my entire life. No pills would help. Where to next? Greetings from Achiltibuie.
