The UAE has an improved web site for the rta which is the local transit authority. On this site you can build a routing on the public transport within the Emirates. It is a great tool if you want to avoid the cabs. To get from the aiport in Sharjah I had to take 2 buses and the new metro which stops in front of Terminal three at DXB. The whole trip cost $5-7 USD which is much cheaper than the cabs.

Sharjah Airport

Sharjah has a small but efficient airport that is home to Air Arabia for the most part. The rest of the flights tend to be strictly cargo. It is a small but managable place with connections via public transport to Dubai. If you take a cab it will cost around 30 USD but that is made up with the money you will save by flying on Air Arabia.
