City of Stone

On your way to the Siq
Petra is the fabled city that was introduced to most Americans in the Indiana Jones Trilogy. It is probably one of the largest tourist traws to Jordan. It was built in the 3rd century BC by the Nabateans. For the most part the most interesting parts of this city are the facades since a visit inside reveals a rather spartan interior.
The Siq to most people is the entrance even though the actual one is a few hundred feet before this. It is a long windy path that is paved in stone at parts and other parts are worn gravel with parts of the irrigation system on either side.
As you walk down the Siq you can feel the anticipation build as you prepare yourself the fabled/most photographed Treasury.
