During the pre-Euromeet in Vienna we had two excursions to places outside of Vienna. One was a trip to Bratislava and one was a trip to Melk, from where we took the boat into the Wachau to Duernstein and afterwards the train via Krems back to Vienna.
We arrived in Duernstein with the boat which gave us a great view on the beautiful blue church standing on a rock above the river Danube. Once on land we started our town walk along the Danube where we found markings showing how high the water had been in the past during floodings. Leaving the river we entered the center of town to find the way into the blue church. The church is part of a monastry and has an amazing interior. After the church we continued our walk through town. At a high point at the far end of the town, the view over the river Danub was perfect. Heading back we finally stopped in a very nice restaurant, speciallised on wine and light food (food which fits to wine). We all enjoyed our stay very much. After tasting some wine and filling the stomach, we left Duernstein by train towards Krems. I can recommend this town very much.
- Pros:Very nice town
