"Bäckaskogslott - Bäckaskog Castle" Bäckaskog by gubbi1

The castle of Bäckaskog is located just a few kilometers outside the small village of Bäckaskog and close to the E22. It is a big nice building with a beautiful park around. On my drive I had a stop here after being curious of the signs leading to the castle. I have spent only am hour in the park (it was late) but liked it very much. If you cross it you will come to a beautiful lake.

According to the webpage of the castle it was originally used as a monastry in the mediaeval times. From 1584 to 1653 the monastry was fortified and transformed into a castle. Later in 1782-1817 the park was increased to reach the lake. Later on more changes were made to the building which today is a hotel offering also space for events like weddings.
