"Tel Aviv" Tel Aviv-Yafo by gubbi1

Most likely you will come and leave Israel via Tel Aviv. This gives you the perfect option to make a stop in this vital town. Myself I decided to stay for two nights before flying home to prevent a longer drive through Israel to the airport. The hotel I had chosen was located just beside the Hotel Cinema in which I could enjoy my breakfast.
Coming to downtown Tel Aviv by car includes a challenging drive. Problem here is that the traffic is quite dense and there is hardly any space where you can stop your car to have a look on a map. For here and Haifa I would recommend a navigation system, all other places in Israel were fully OK to drive in. Once you found your hotel and a parking (I spent the money and put my car into the parking house close to the hotel) then Tel Aviv offers you a splendid time. Even though town stretches along the sea, it is still possible to walk to Yaffo, which I did twice.

Things I recommend in Tel Aviv / Yaffo:

The seaside: Take your time to enjoy the sea. After travelling in the desert and the inner North coming to the sea with its humid air is something nice. There is lots of life with bars, kind of holiday feeling. The seaside with its promenade is excellent for a walk to Yaffo.

Yaffo at night: It was late in the afternoon that I arrived in Tel Aviv, so dares was coming soon. Still I wanted to get out and reaching the promenade at the sea I decided to see how far I would be able to walk. Ater a while I reached the old town of Yaffo. It is a fantastic experience to walk through these historic buildings. They are beautiful and slow to take very nice night shots of the streets and walk ways. Also from the top of a small hill you will have an excellent view onto the glittering skyline of Tel Aviv.

Yaffo at day:
During the day you can enjoy Yaffos charm. Not only the inner quarters invite for a walk, but also along the sea a mixture of harbour flair and artist quarter awaits you. I found some nice art exhibition in an old harbour hall. Don't forget the other areas of Yaffo wth the clock tower and the many side streets.

Historic Railway Station and Wieland Factory Complex: Inbetween Tel Aviv and Yaffo you can find an historic area where nowadays exhibitions and happenings take place. The area used to be the complex of the end point of the Yaffo-Jerusalem-Railway and the Wieland Factory, which produced cement and decorated tiles. The area has been restored and now offers exhibitions, festivities and tourist shops. It happend to me that I came here during some festivity. Lots of food stands and exhibitions offered an interesting time here.

White Tel Aviv: Large parts of Tel Aviv are inscribed on the list of World Heritages of the UNESCO due to the white buildings in Bauhaus style. This also includes for example the Hotel Cinema and the houses around. You can walk many streets with houses in this style.
