College Hostel is run by a bunch of young, but freakishly attentive and responsible guys. I stayed in a dorm-style room, the cheapest they had, but it wasn't bad. The bunk beds are all your typical hostel metal-frame variety, the room was warm for the most part, and the carpet only looked slightly vomited upon. (kidding . . . sort of.)
Anyway, what the hostel lacks in charm, it makes up for in price - dead cheap - and location - right in the middle of blissfully bohemian Kensignton Market.
Overall, a very nice place to stay.
Unique Qualities: You can see the CN Tower from your room . . . that's about as close to it as you need to get anyway.
Also, there's some perks like free local phone, free internet, and a non-disgusting kitchen that really make this place convenient. Also, there's no curfew or morning rise, so you can come and go as you please.
Oh - and don't be a *** like me. When I got there, I went to the ladies (the only ladies that I could find) and saw only two toilets and a row of sinks. I thought to myself, "Crap, this is one of those hostiles with no showers that I have heard about." Since College Hostel is so cheap, I thought this was totally possible.
Not so, though. In my room was this exchange student who'd been living there a solid month. She set me straight - the showers are in a separate room - down the hall, around the corner. Well, at least I now know that all I need is a package of Wet Ones and a determined will to get clean.
