Tuncurry is on the northern side of Wallis Lake. Also Tuncurry beach extends from the breakwall on the entrance to the lake to Blackhead ( 9 mile Beach)
It is a popular surfing beach but it is not patrolled by lifeguards.
Near the breakwall is a netted off area of the lake known as the Rockpool., with playgrounds and BBQ's it is popular with local families and visitors. You can walk or cycle from the breakwall around the lake and over the bridge and then either way around the lake at Forster.
Fishing is also a popular pastime, whether off the jetties or breakwall or beach or from a boat on the lake or ocean. There are boats for hire and charter companies.
Dolphins can generally be seen everyday from the breakwall.
Forster is just across the bridge and oftern the two towns are known as Forster- Tuncurry the one locality.
the shire is Great Lakes and the region of nsw is Mid north coast.
